Melbourne has locked in a key part of its premiership-winning team, with star forward Bayley Fritsch signing a long-term contract extension.
Fritsch enjoyed a tremendous 2021 season, booting a career-high 59 goals in 24 games, including six in the grand final win over the Western Bulldogs
The 24-year-old was set to come out of contract at the end of next season, but the new deal will now see him remain at Melbourne through the 2026 season.
“We are delighted to secure the services of Bayley, who has led our goal Kicking tally for the past two seasons, with this new deal,” Melbourne list boss, Tim Lamb, said in a statement.
“As a club we are thrilled that Bayley has committed long-term and is he is determined to help Melbourne achieve sustained success.
“He has worked incredibly hard on his game since arriving at the club and is much loved and respected by his teammates and staff alike.”
Fritsch has been one of the biggest success stories of Melbourne’s recruiting department, having developed into a match-winner after being taken in 31st overall in the 2017 draft.
The left-footer has played 85 games and kicked 118 goals for the Demons since making his debut back in 2018.
